Bordallo Pinheiro Cabbage Bowl 17.5cm
Description
The Bordallo Pinheiro Cabbage Bowl is perhaps the most recognised piece in Portuguese ceramic tradition — and for good reason. At 17.5cm, this individual bowl is sculpted with the same hand-finished precision as every piece to leave the Caldas da Rainha factory since 1884: each vein, each fold of the leaf, rendered with quiet fidelity to the natural form.
Versatile enough for soups, salads, or a considered table setting, it layers beautifully within the broader Bordallo Pinheiro collection — a piece as fitting for everyday use as it is for gifting.
Earthenware. 17.5cm. Made in Portugal.

Bordallo Pinheiro
The cabbage, fleshy and wrinkled, flattened in shape, could serve as a metaphor for the rusticity of Portugal, a country Bordallo satirized so often. It was a clever way of paying homage to it, placing it at the center of bourgeois tables, where, otherwise, it would not have been invited. And today, our cabbage is an essential element on any table and in any setting, admired by young and old alike, blooming in various colors: Green, White, and Pink!
