The Bordallo Pinheiro Flora Pitcher in Grey brings the botanical richness of the Flora collection to a form that is both generous and graceful. Poppies, wild roses, dandelions, and delicate insects wind their way across the earthenware surface in high and low relief — all rendered in a soft grey glaze that gives the piece a quieter, more sophisticated character than its green and blue counterparts.
At 1.5 litres, it is the right size for water at a long lunch, a jug of iced tea on a warm afternoon, or a simple arrangement of garden stems. Handcrafted in Portugal by Bordallo Pinheiro, whose artisans have been shaping earthenware with the same care since 1884.

The cabbage, fleshy and wrinkled, flattened in shape, could serve as a metaphor for the rusticity of Portugal, a country Bordallo satirized so often. It was a clever way of paying homage to it, placing it at the center of bourgeois tables, where, otherwise, it would not have been invited.
